commander britain was the product of dr. josef reinstein's first attempt at a supersoldier serum for britain. the female volunteer, whose name and file were destroyed, suffered an unforseen genetic mutation which causes her to need plutonium close to her body to survive, with her biochemistry being not at all affected by close proximity to radiation. she was saved by the genius of howard stark, who designed a containment suit which allowed her to safely carry a large amount of plutonium in shoulder-mounted containers, linked to a cyborg style series of modifications which allowed her to work around and carry large amounts of materials without contaminating herself or the others around her. her main assignment was originally working in open environments with weapons grade plutonium, instead of humans, but she escaped one night, being extremely angry with her rotten luck and non-battlefield assignments, to appear and dissappear on and off of battlefields, becoming the grim reaper of WWII. she unknowingly saved captain america several times from amushes, leading him to believe in a guardian angel.
